At Resource, creating social value is embedded in who we are. That’s why we actively encourage and support our team to take part in projects that contribute to the wider community, whether that’s volunteering, mentoring, or helping young people at the start of their career path.

Recently, several members of our team have been involved in work with local schools, helping to inspire the next generation and raise awareness of careers in the creative and print industry.
Our Managing Director, Gail Weathers and Creative Designer, Erin Docherty, took time out to visit a local high school, speaking to Year 7 students about future career paths and introducing them to the exciting possibilities within creative and print.
As part of these sessions, children took part in activities where they explored how different personality traits and personable values match to different job types, sparking discussions on where they would like to be when they’re making key career decisions later down the line and making them think differently about their dream job.

We also hosted a fantastic student, Jess, for a week of work experience. At just 17, Jess showed an impressive understanding of the marketing and communications world and brought energy and curiosity to everything she took part in. As a business, we recognise the value of meaningful work placements and the lasting impression they can leave on a young person’s view of the working world. That’s why we’re committed to ensuring every student gains practical skills, industry insight, and a positive experience during their time with us.

Erin Docherty, Creative Designer explains:
“I’ve always enjoyed working with young people. While my career ended up taking a different direction, I still volunteer at an arts club for young adults in my spare time, which I find incredibly rewarding. That’s why I genuinely appreciate the chance to share my experience and passion through my role at Resource. It’s not often you find a workplace that actively supports giving back to the local community, or volunteering in general, and it’s something I truly value.”
By embedding social value into the way we work, we create space for our people to use their time, skills and passions to make a difference. These initiatives don’t just benefit the community, they enrich our culture, support our purpose, and remind us of the power we have to positively impact others.
Whether it’s through work experience placements, school talks, or wider volunteering efforts, we’re proud to be building a business that puts people and purpose at its heart.
